Author Topic: Very wet basement  (Read 1293 times)

Every spring my basement is very wet for a couple of days.  Half of the basement has drywall on the walls and the other half is unfinished cement blocks.  None of the basement floor is finished it is concrete.

I only have a problem with one side of the house.  There is a garage very close to that side of the house creating an alleyway between the house and garage.  Snow does build up in the winter as falls off the roof but I try to keep it clear.

The drywall does not seem to be wet but I cannot see the other side of it so can't be sure.  The concrete blocks feel damp.  This always after our first big thaw and I cannot finish this basement knowing it is going to be wet every spring.

I don't think I can excavate that side of the house as the garage is so close to the house.  Any ideas on how to fix this or how much it would cost??
