I have two horizontal cracks on one inner wall of basement (poured foundation) Leakage is very little when we have a medium rain.
Someone recommended I have a mini drainage system installed for each area and said that would cure the problem. Would that
be an ok way to do it? We live in 8 year old ranch home. No other wet spots....
Thank you very much,,,

In your post you said "horizontal" cracks. These are rare in poured foundations. Do you mean vertical, from floor to sill plate (top)?

If they are really horizontal, post your reply in this thread and include a photo if you can.

You'll need to log in to do it then upload an attachment in the "Additional Options" area at the bottom of the reply area.

Rod, I meant to put vertical in. Someone said a nabor had the mini drain system in and it did well. Would that work?

Thank you,

You have what I call a Type 1 leakage problem. "Flaw in the wall". The repair should reflect the problem. The mini drain system is not the best choice for cracks in a poured concrete wall. The best fix is polyurethane injection by a skilled installer.

You can alternatively dig to the footings and seal the cracks from the outside using a "rubberized' sealant. Bakor has an ecellent product called Polybitume. Crack must be very clean prior to application. Wew use a heat gun to dry it and them wire brush. Cover the seal with heavy plastic like vapour barrier to protect the seal during backfill until it cures fully.
